Block Power Control...is a method of isolating
the rail line in segments so that more than one locomotive can be
controlled. It is also called CAB control, but I don't know why. A good
explanation of CAB control is located

Track Power...means just that. The electrical
power to run the locomotive is put into the tracks and is picked-up by the
locomotive or tender wheels or sometimes by sliders mounted on the
locomotive.
There are several ways to to control a track-powered loco, the easiest
being to change the voltage applied to the track. And that's how we do it on
the Skeena Pacific. |
