So, this may not look much different from a myriad of
earlier pictures, but those who are observant will note that I've been
digging. With the rail line set into its new location, I turned over the
grass between the 'old' flower bed and the new right-of-way. There's a
fine orange line on the left. This is landscape paint that will shortly
disappear. I've laid out a suggested new flower bed, which now awaits
the approval of the Head Gardener. |
| The 'new' flower bed, if approved, will soften the appearance of
that long length of straight track and re-integrate it as part of the
garden. Well, that's the idea. We'll see what happens. Meanwhile, 5493
has returned to service following maintenance on the gearboxes (again!)
The big Aristocraft loco certainly moves tonnage, but whoever let the
darn things out of the factory without loctite on the little screws that
hold the gear and the drive-axles together..... you finish that
sentence. |

And finally, for this page, we did get around to
replacing the Tahltan bridge. This aluminum, braced bridge was designed
as an experiment by Alcon. It is lightweight and sectionalised. It also
has numerous sensors to determine if it can take the beating that a
railway line can give. |
