Dee's Junction also needed refurbishing. We didn't like the way
all the village was 'laid bare' as soon as you walked in the garden
gate. Our plan has always been that the railway would be in the
garden and not the garden surrounding the railway. I've always liked
the way the train disappears and re-appears (when there is Summer
vegetation), rather than being visible all the time. So we decided
to relocate Dee's Junction. |

These views are the 'before' pictures, in case you don't remeber
from earlier pages. The mainline exits the Edziza Tunnel, curves
left (in the top picture) and splits for Dee's Junction Yard. |

So we tore out everything to the right of the approaching train,
which included most of Dee's Yard, the log yard and the 'future' oil
and coal terminals. |
| As usual, during all construction, the trains could run. Here
Extra 9160 with the track Maintenance of Way cut passes one of the
many truck loads of dirt that had to be removed in this major
reconstruction. |

And the result is a new pair of very long tracks that approach Dee's
Junction. The one will provide a yard lead (space to move cars
around without blocking the mainline), the other a lengthy
passing track. |
| Additional yard tracks will be added here, probably next year.
There are bulbs and plants somewhere around the shrubs and we'll
have to wait for Spring to see what needs to be relocated or just
dug up! The two houses that currently comprise the entire
population of Dee's Junction were moved and restored to the power
grid (they are lit at night) all in the same day. |
