Although expansion across the back of the
yard had only just begun, the surveyors were well into
their Summer activities. While no plans existed, it was
already in the mind of management that continued growth was
necessary. This picture of the north side shows great potential.
No name had been conceived for the future townsite, but all that garden yearned for a
rail line. |

The cherry trees in the south presented
new difficulties. Two huge trees were well beyond picking
height, but they were producing oowee-gooey cherries that
fell to earth, and track, causing a sticky mess to
accumulate. A temporary cover was strung under the worst
offender and normal traffic resumed. Little did we know just
how great of a heartache these trees would eventually
provide. |
